The Coral Tree or sometimes called a “Lucky Bean Tree” is a handsome, stocky tree that flowers in Spring and early Summer.

Flowering occurs before new leaves are formed as this tree is deciduous.  This tree is suitable for warmer gardens and grows up to approximately 10m in height.  It is not advisable to plant it near walls and paving as it has a wide root-system.

The scarlet flowers are followed by black seed pods.  In Autumn the pods split and release bright red “lucky bean” seeds. Nectar feeding birds and insects love this tree and insect loving birds will also make an appearance to feed on the insects.

This handsome tree is a fast grower and can endure heat as well as dry spells.
