TREE OF THE MONTH – CANDELABRA TREE (EUPHORBIA COOPERI)

The Candelabra tree is naturally found in the northern parts of South Africa.

This tree prefers a sunny position with plenty of space around it as it can grow to approximately 7 meters tall and 3 meters wide.  It will only tolerate light frosts should not be over-watered.

The tree resembles a candelabra with it’s thick base trunk spreading out in several winged branches.

It can be planted in a large pot provided it is placed in a sunny position.  For this reason it will make an ideal and unique Christmas tree.  Decorate it with Christmas lights, tinsel and various Christmas decorations.  After the holidays it can be taken back to it’s sunny spot.  Do remember not to over-water it in the pot.
